Taking apart a Flip Ultra 30 camera

Taking apart a Flip Ultra 30 video camera. Getting rid of excess plastic and connectors to make the unit as small and light as possible. Also, shows a crude, but effective way to replace the two AA batteries with a smaller and lighter 3-volt lithium photo battery.

    Thanks for the breakdown.
Is there any chance you could get some macro shots of the board?

Sure. I’ll post them as soon as I can. I tried taking some shots last night, but I’ll need to redo them. Lighting is trickier than I thought.

Thank you for this video. One of the few that actually goes step by step. You seem to know electronics. I was wondering if you were able to figure out how to splice in a stereo mini port through the microphone cable so that one could attach an external microphone. Seems that things could get tricky because the mic is integrated into the board and the attachment cable also includes the LED record light. Just wanted to know your thoughts on all of this.

For some reason, the little gap on my top plate isnt wide enough for even my smallest jewler flathead screwdriver. And I’m very afraid because Ive already damaged this plate a little bit trying to get it off.. What should I do?
